Who we are

Renter Volt is an independent publication operated by Slate Mill Group. We publish editorial content about charging electric vehicles without a garage. We are not a retailer, a manufacturer, an installer, or an electrical contractor.

Electrical safety — read this one

• The author is not an electrician and holds no electrical certification. This is stated throughout the site and it is not modesty.
• Figures such as the 80 percent continuous-load rule are general descriptions of published standards, not an assessment of your circuit.
• If a receptacle is warm, discoloured, loose or smells of hot plastic, stop using it and report it. Nothing on this site is worth pushing past that.
• Follow the instructions supplied with your own charger and your own vehicle. Where they conflict with anything here, follow them.

Accuracy

We compile published manufacturer specifications and cite them, and we make a genuine effort to keep them current — the review cadence is set out in the editorial policy. Specifications still change, products get discontinued, and connector standards are actively shifting. Verify anything that matters against the manufacturer’s own current documentation before you buy or install.

The site is provided as-is, without warranties of any kind, express or implied.

Products and purchases

• We sell nothing. Every buy link goes to a third-party retailer.
• Your purchase is a contract between you and that retailer, governed by their terms. Orders, payment, shipping, returns and warranties are theirs.
• We are not responsible for a retailer's pricing, availability, description or conduct.
• Prices shown here are pulled live and stamped with the date checked. The price at the retailer at the moment of purchase is the real one.
